LTAW #27 An experiment

LTAW #27 took place with a group of students and a teacher from a wonderful school in New York City.
As an experiment, the students were given a starting point. Group 1 Washington Square, Group 2 Father Demo Square, and group 3 (Bill and myself) at a triangular Park at the corner of 6th Ave and Spring Street called Juan Pablo Duarte Square
The walk took place at 10 am (EST) each group received the walking directions via Twitter.
In addition to the walk we then met back to the Students school and drew our journey, trying to recall the directions received, streets used and the songs we sung...

It was interesting to me to observe, that we recalled places in more specificity when connected with a thought, ie Think of someone you wish were with you... Also I am surprise to see that the journey we took had different "shape" I expected that we would all create a similar shapes yet in looking at the drawings it is clear that although we all walked the same steps the lines we created were very different.
The students have now images and video footage to use in a video editing project. I hope to be able to share those video with you very soon.
Did you take the walk with us? If so please send me images and video footage via http://dropbox.yousendit.com/MarieChristineKatz924487

Thank you so much for your interest and support.

The Velada Santa Lucia was fantastic

What an fantastic experience in so many ways. People from Maracaibo as well as visitors and fellow artists have been so generous and willing to participate and help in my project Let's take a walk. It has been an inspiring week and feel privileged to be part of The Velada Santa Lucia 2012.
During the first few days I spent my time sitting by the side walk knitting and talking with passerby while teaching them to knit.

Drawing by An Edec

All the knitted part were used to make the elements of the Unraveling Dresses I wore during the performances.

The Performances took place on the 2nd and the 3rd of March at 7.30pm

The wonderful Town Crier Yarines Suarez and Sonia Stormes the fantastic musician/ drummer were calling on to people to join us for a walk, while Robert Chirinos the "Tweet Master" sent you the walking directions via Twitter

We had crowd and what a fantastic group of people...

As I walked the knitted dress unraveled, leaving traces of our journey...

After the walk with Juan Diego, one of the knitter/walker, Robert Chirinos the "Tweet Master" the Town Crier Yarines Suarez and Sonia Stormes the drummer.

LTAW #24 at Zuccotti Park, Wall street

It's fascinating to walk through Zuccotti Park into this com-munity of diverse people who peacefully demand social and economic equality.
Little by little the park is transformed into a village of a sort, there is even a library. The place is now cramped with tents. Because of the sky scrapers surrounding the park there is very little sun.
I hope for the safety of the protesters.
As I was getting ready to start the walk a group of people gathered to participate in a workshop on Radical Economics 101

The walk ended with a wonderful encounter with the knitting grandmother
What about you, where did you take the walk from? if you have any footage please send them, to me via You sent it (at no cost to you).
Thank you so much for your support and participation.

LTAW #23 took place at Les Salaisons

La Nuit Blanche was fantastic but my favorite place was of course Laurent Quenehen's gallery Les Salaison in Romainsville featuring a group show of art and performances.
As part of this event had the pure pleasure of conducting Let's Take a Walk#23.
A big thank you to Anne-Marie Toffolo who was the town crier & Monsieur Mail.et the drummer as well as the help of Laurent and Julie. I did encountered tech difficulties but if you received the tweets thanks to my friend Valerie who not only took fantastic photos, but also called in the direction to Paul my tweet master.
If you followed the walk and filmed/photographed your journey please send them to me via You Send It
Until the next walk,
Love from Paris
